The cast of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever were out in full force at the Hollywood premiere on October 26. As expected, there was plenty of excellent fashion on the red carpet: Rihanna arrived in an offbeat look by Rick Owens, while Letitia Wright paid a touching tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman in a bejeweled Alexander McQueen blazer that resembled the Givenchy haute couture suit Boseman wore to the 2018 Oscars. Lupita Nyong’o—who plays Nakia in the film—was positively glowing in a knotted white one-shoulder dress by Balmain, which she wore with an intricate shell crown and purple shoes. As the new global ambassador for De Beers (she stars in the brand’s Where It Begins campaign), Lupita had first pick of its diamond jewelry to wear to the event—she sported a suite of diamond rings, earrings and bracelets for the occasion.
Director Ryan Coogler’s accessory for the evening kept Boseman close to his heart: He wore a gold dog tag-style pendant necklace with the actor’s image on it. “It was a necklace that I had made while we were getting ready to start filming, because I wanted to keep him close to me,” Coogler told Good Morning America. Actor Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri in the film, also chose a sleek Alexander McQueen suit—complete with a crystal harness—that nodded to Boseman’s look at the 2018 Oscars.
