He had a great year in 2009, when he led the American League in home runs, RBIs and total bases and finished second in MVP voting, but after that he never had another season quite like that. Yes, he did hit 30+ home runs and drive in 100+ runs in the following two seasons and led the AL in runs scored in 2010, but they just weren’t like he was before he joined the Yankees. While the rivalry is rather dead with the way baseball currently is, it’s really between the fans if anything.
