Let’s hope the Ukrainians can hold out long enough to force Putin into a negotiated peace that doesn’t give him much of what he wants. But if they gain territory legally, then I guess NATO doesn’t have a problem with that. For instance, let’s say that Ireland and the United Kingdom united, in a legal and democratic fashion. I don’t think NATO would have any issues with that, but I guess it depends what kind of rules they have, if any, for scenarios like this.
