Zero. There are chemicals and sizingS used in the production of clothing. Some of this can include formaldehyde. Wash your clothes before you ever wear them in the first place. A lot of material like cotton for instance will shrink after washing especially if dried in the dryer. At the same time some knit material will lose its shape and become loose and ill fitted First I try to check what size the models wearing and get a feel off of that, then I look at the style guide if there is none I look at various style guides through Google for xs, s, m, l in different countries etc and then it’s really a matter of gambling after that. It’s good to know your measurements. You can order-get two sizes that you think will be a good fit and try them both on when they’re present and then return the one that feels less of a good fit. A 100% polyester shirt will not shrink if you wash it in cold water, hot water, bleach, a river, or the ocean. It will not fade if you leave it under a hot UV light. In fact, I don’t know if there is any way you can harm a 100% polyester shirt outside of throwing it in the trash where it will molder forever.
It purely depends on the quality of shirts you buy. Typical commercial brands including those well known ones use fabrics which are treated. A very thin layer of coating that is added to the fabric barely lasts a few washed. This could be for say 5–7 washes at best. Premium shirts with fine counts and often from reputed global mills last a life time. They do not have a loss of lustre. One must take care because it’s not only the size, but the color of the dyes. Some dye isn’t colorfast at certain temperatures. That’s why there are care instructions. If you follow the care instructions and the garment is smaller or blotchy, return it. In most jurisdictions with some form of consumer guarantees you may get satisfaction.
