There are a few reasons why I would choose to wear shorts and a long sleeve shirt over long pants and a short sleeve shirt. If it’s a particularly hot day, I’ll definitely go for the shorts to stay cool. I also think that shorts can be more flattering and fun to style than pants, so I’ll often choose them when I want to feel my best. If I’m doing something active like hiking or going for a run, I’ll also opt for shorts so I can move more easily. What “too short” is defined as varies with gender, body type and circumstances. The shorts on the photos for example would in my opinion be okay to wear for a young woman on a warm summer day where formal attire is not required.
