When it comes to dressing for a theme, Timothée Chalamet always understands the assignment. (Who can forget the futuristic Cartier brooches he wore for the Dune premiere last year, or the regal silver Haider Ackermann suit he sported to promote The King at Venice Film Festival in 2019?) Yet few of the star’s previous projects have allowed him to be as playful with his style as his latest flick, Bones and All, which sees him reunited with Call Me by Your Name director Luca Guadagnino for a cannibal road trip romance. For the film’s premiere at Venice in September, Chalamet slipped into one of his most daring looks yet: an entirely backless halterneck jumpsuit by his friend and go-to designer Haider Ackermann, cut from shimmering blood-red satin. Then, for its debut at the London Film Festival last month, he wore a very on-brand skeletal choker by Vivienne Westwood, consisting of silver “bones” encrusted with diamonds. (If there’s one thing Chalamet knows how to do—the actor famously works without a stylist, dressing himself for each occasion—it’s to use jewelry to both elevate a look and tell a story.)
Photo: Getty ImagesSo it was a particular delight to see Chalamet arrive today for a photocall ahead of the film’s Milan premiere wearing another look that paid homage to the bloodthirsty nature of his latest project—and once again turning to Vivienne Westwood to do so. In a fuzzy gray ombré sweater covered with heart motifs and the brand’s signature orb logo—paired with black leather trousers and matching boots—Chalamet’s look was perfectly vampiric. If the look brings back memories of the mid-noughties emo movement, that’s probably intentional. But the real star piece was a choker with a very Vivienne Westwood—and Bones and All-appropriate—twist, featuring carefully placed bones to hold the strings of glistening pearls together.
Thought Barbiecore was just a summer fad? Think again! Kim Kardashian attended the annual Baby2Baby Gala last night in Los Angeles, which raises millions of dollars every year for children in need (Kardashian has donated over $5 million to the cause; She and Skims co-founders Emma and Jens Grede donated another $1 million at the gala). For the occasion, she decked herself out in a bold, head-to-toe pink look. If you recall this past summer, stars like Megan Fox, Lizzo, and Kardashian were all wearing pink nonstop, and labels such as Valentino made the bubblegum hue one of their recurring motifs. (You’ll also remember those viral photos of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling filming Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie, which gave the trend its name). To continue the peppy vibe into autumn, Kardashian wore Balenciaga’s pink, bowed gown, pairing it with the label’s mini top-handle bag and satiny, pointy boots. Monochromatic dressing is one of Kardashian’s signatures, of course, but in an all-over Pepto Bismol pink, her look was a clear nod to the enduring Barbie aesthetic. All she needed was a matching Ken.
